The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has partnered with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) through a Statement of Intent (SoI) to drive Maharashtraโ€™s energy transition. This collaboration focuses on innovative policies and regulations to promote renewable energy, ensure universal access to sustainable energy, and support inclusive growth. Building on GEAPPโ€™s similar partnership with NITI Aayog, this initiative brings transformative solutions to the state level. MERC has already demonstrated leadership in regulatory advancements with recent measures like Resource Adequacy and Demand Flexibility regulations, aimed at improving grid stability and efficiency across Maharashtra.

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) focuses on accelerating the shift to renewable energy by strengthening power grids and integrating affordable sources like solar and wind. It works to build sustainable energy systems by enhancing capacity, encouraging innovation, and developing scalable business models.
