Procter & Gamble (P&G), the global consumer goods giant with a portfolio of over 80 leading brands, has entered into a lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy to develop and operate a solar power system at its UAE office in the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza).
The 500-kilowatt car park solar system will feature over 870 bifacial solar panels and is set to be implemented in four phases to align with P&G’s operational schedule. A groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place today, attended by representatives from both P&G and Yellow Door Energy.
Once operational, the solar system is expected to generate approximately 813,500 kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, significantly reducing P&Gโs carbon emissions by 323,000 kilograms in its first year.
Sonali Dhawan, General Manager for P&G Gulf, emphasized the companyโs commitment to sustainability: โEnvironmental sustainability is a core pillar of our business approach. This collaboration with Yellow Door Energy reflects our dedication to promoting renewable energy at our Dubai headquarters.โ
Yellow Door Energy, a leading sustainable energy provider in the Middle East and Africa, will oversee the projectโs financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance under its solar leasing model. The agreement allows businesses to adopt renewable energy solutions without upfront capital investments or operational challenges.
Jeremy Crane, CEO of Yellow Door Energy Group, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: โWe are delighted to partner with P&G on this innovative project. This solar initiative not only supports the UAEโs renewable energy strategy but also helps businesses like P&G reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs. With a solar portfolio exceeding 355 megawatts, we remain committed to providing sustainable energy solutions across the Middle East and Africa.โ
This solar project aligns with P&Gโs global sustainability goals and contributes to the UAEโs vision of advancing clean energy initiatives within its industrial and business sectors.
