Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Discusses Renewable Energy and Sustainability with Peru’s Consul General

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met with HE Katia Angeles Vargas, the Consul General of the Republic of Peru to Dubai, to discuss DEWA’s pioneering renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in these critical sectors.

Al Tayer emphasized Dubai’s strategic focus on expanding clean energy projects, utilizing advanced Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and digitalization, and ensuring world-leading infrastructure with high levels of reliability, efficiency, and availability. He also highlighted DEWA’s commitment to accelerating investments in disruptive technologies.

During the meeting, Al Tayer presented DEWA’s ambitious strategies, which align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 initiative, and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These strategies aim to achieve 100% clean energy production, position Dubai as a global sustainability hub, and support global efforts to address environmental challenges.

Al Tayer also showcased DEWA’s flagship projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, which uses photovoltaic and concentrated solar power technologies to ensure sustainable electricity production around the clock. Additionally, the Hassyan complex water desalination project, which employs reverse-osmosis technology, was highlighted for its goal of achieving 100% desalinated water production using clean energy by 2030.

In response, Angeles Vargas praised DEWA’s innovative initiatives and expressed Peru’s interest in leveraging these experiences to explore potential collaborations in renewable energy and water resource management, contributing to the global sustainable development agenda.
