Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated TP Solarโ€™s new solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli district. The facility, located at the Gangaikondan SIPCOT industrial estate, has a production capacity of 4.3 GW and was set up at an estimated cost of โ‚น3,800 crore. At another event in the district, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for Vikram Solarโ€™s upcoming manufacturing plant, which will have a 3 GW solar cell capacity and a 6 GW module capacity. This project is expected to involve an investment of โ‚น2,574 crore.

The TP Solar plant, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, is expected to create employment opportunities for around 4,000 people, while Vikram Solarโ€™s project will provide jobs for approximately 2,500 individuals. A significant number of these job opportunities will be offered to women, according to the state government.

Tamil Nadu is recognized as Indiaโ€™s second-largest economy and a major hub for manufacturing and exports across various sectors. The government has been implementing special initiatives to boost investment, generate employment for the youth, and drive economic growth to reach a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
