HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), chaired the Councilโs 86th meeting at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah Hotel, where key energy and sustainability strategies were reviewed. The meeting was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council, along with senior government and industry officials.
The session brought together prominent figures, including HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Council; HE Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality; HE Abdulla bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA); HE Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC); Juan-Pablo Freile, General Manager of Dubai Petroleum; and Muna Alosaimi, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Discussions focused on advancements in carbon capture technologies and their potential role in generating clean fuels such as green hydrogen and green ammonia. The Council assessed the technical and economic feasibility of these innovations, aligning them with the UAEโs Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy 2030.
Additionally, the Council reviewed the regulatory framework for district cooling service providers to enhance network efficiency, supporting Dubaiโs sustainable urban development. A key decision was the approval of new retrofitting guidelines for government buildings to improve operational efficiency, reduce water and electricity consumption, and implement Al Saโfat โ Dubai Green Building System in all government construction projects from 2026 onwards.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized Dubaiโs commitment to sustainability, stating, โIn line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Council continues to drive policies that strengthen Dubaiโs position as a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and quality of life.โ
HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi highlighted the Councilโs integrated approach, noting that members from leading government entities have implemented a comprehensive roadmap to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy remains focused on enhancing energy efficiency, adopting green technologies, and ensuring the successful execution of sustainability initiatives in alignment with Dubaiโs long-term strategic goals.
