SMA Solar Technology AG has appointed Olaf Heyden as Chief Transformation Officer (CTrO), effective February 14, 2025. Heyden, 61, has been leading the company’s wide-reaching restructuring and transformation program since September 2024. This appointment reinforces SMA’s commitment to strengthening its position as a global systems and solutions provider, addressing the ongoing market challenges.
Heyden, who previously oversaw daily operations at Diebold Nixdorf, will hold the CTrO role until the second quarter of 2026. In addition, he will serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO), managing Operations, Human Resources, and Digitalization during this period.
Uwe Kleinkauf, Chairman of the SMA Supervisory Board, expressed confidence in Heyden’s expertise, which complements the Managing Board’s broader strategic goals. With a team of three, SMA is equipped to overcome industry challenges and accelerate its transformation into a financially stronger position.
Jürgen Reinert, SMA’s CEO, highlighted Heyden’s significant contributions in recent months and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to growth, innovation, and the global energy transition. The company aims to continue expanding its service portfolio, market approach, and service quality to emerge as a clean-tech market leader.
