Bison Brothers and Engelhart have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together on utility-scale battery energy storage projects in Japan. Bison Brothers, a key developer and system integrator of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), will lead the acquisition of land, secure grid interconnection approvals, and manage construction, installation, and maintenance. Engelhart, a global energy trading and asset optimization company, will focus on maximizing the economic value of these assets through energy trading strategies, capacity market bidding, and long-term financial structuring.

Bison Brothers, through its affiliated company Bison Energy, has experience in renewable energy projects and is actively expanding its presence in Japan. The company has a global pipeline of over 5.5 GWh of BESS projects and is targeting 3 GW/12 GWh of capacity in Japan by 2028. Engelhart, with its expertise in energy trading, will apply revenue optimization and risk management strategies to enhance the profitability of these storage projects.

The partnership aims to support Japan’s transition to cleaner energy by addressing grid stability and integrating more renewable energy sources.
