Avangrid On Track To Hit 10.5 GW Energy Capacity, A Major Clean Energy Milestone

Avangrid owns and operates a diverse portfolio of energy generation resources, contributing to its total installed capacity of 10.5 gigawatts (GW). The company’s energy mix includes onshore wind, solar, hydropower, natural gas, and fuel cells, ensuring a balanced approach to power generation. Avangrid’s assets are strategically distributed across different regions of the United States, with approximately 3.8 GW located in the West, 2.2 GW in Texas and New Mexico, 2.7 GW in the Midwest, and 1.7 GW in the East.

As a key player in the energy sector, Avangrid not only generates power but also plays an essential role in the economic development of the communities where it operates. The company provides long-term employment opportunities, supporting over 500 permanent jobs in operations and maintenance. Additionally, Avangrid contributes significantly to local economies, having paid more than $50 million in property taxes in the past year.

With increasing energy demand driven by electrification, the expansion of manufacturing industries, and the rapid growth of data centers, Avangrid is actively scaling its operations to meet future needs. In February 2025, the company announced new partnerships with several major technology firms to support data center operations. As part of this initiative, Avangrid is currently involved in eight active projects, with further developments planned to accommodate the rising demand for reliable energy.
