LONGi has been awarded a 400 MW module supply contract for an offshore photovoltaic (PV) project recently launched by Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd., with deliveries starting ahead of schedule in October. The selection confirms BC technology as the preferred solution, securing its use across Shanghai’s first 1 GW (AC) “co-located wind and PV” offshore project. This milestone underscores the superior performance, efficiency, and reliability of LONGi’s BC modules in complex marine environments.

Offshore PV projects present unique challenges, including high development costs and demanding construction conditions, making efficiency and energy density critical for profitability. LONGi’s BC technology, built on structural innovation, offers deep compatibility with marine environments, achieving breakthroughs beyond traditional efficiency limits while reducing risks and enhancing returns. The technology represents a key step in shifting offshore energy development from scale-driven expansion to quality-driven growth.

Empirical testing at CPVT’s Yantai base in Shandong and CGC’s Sanmen base in Zhejiang has validated BC modules’ adaptability and superior performance in offshore scenarios. Each BC module delivers 40W more power than comparable TOPCon modules of the same size, reducing structure and foundation costs by about 0.15 CNY/W and cutting operational expenses. In high-cost, time-sensitive offshore settings, these advantages translate into significantly higher returns on investment. As the energy transition accelerates, LONGi’s advanced BC technology is redefining the economics of offshore PV, advancing high-efficiency, low-cost renewable energy deployment across global markets.
