Mission Solar Energy is making a significant investment to strengthen Americaโ€™s solar supply chain. The company announced plans to invest $265 million to expand its San Antonio, TX campus, adding 2 gigawatts (GW) of solar cell production capacity. The expansion is expected to be completed by early 2026 and will create 500 new jobs, boosting domestic manufacturing and providing more reliable, American-made solar solutions.

A key part of this initiative is producing solar cells in-house, which increases the domestic content of Mission Solar Energyโ€™s products. The company will source polysilicon from Malaysia-based OCI TerraSus, produced with clean hydropower, ensuring an environmentally sustainable, ethically responsible, and fully traceable supply chain.

Sam Martens, President of Mission Solar Energy, said, โ€œAs our nation experiences a resurgence in American manufacturing, we are expanding our capabilities to deliver fully domestic solar solutions. Bringing solar cell production to our facility underscores our commitment to U.S. manufacturing, job creation, and a transparent, ethical supply chain.โ€

Sam Martens, President of Mission Solar Energy, stated, โ€œOur mission has always been to produce high-quality solar products right here in the U.S. Expanding into solar cell manufacturing reinforces the strength of the American solar industry and enhances the resilience of our domestic supply chain.โ€

This investment builds on Mission Solar Energyโ€™s recent growth. In May 2024, the company completed a 200,000 square-foot facility expansion, creating room for increased cell and module production and accommodating its growing team. With these advancements, Mission Solar Energy continues to lead in U.S. solar manufacturing, delivering high-performance solar modules that are designed, engineered, and assembled in America. This expansion marks a crucial step toward a cleaner energy future and a more independent domestic supply chain.
