Tanzania Calls Global Bidders for 100MW Solar PV Plant Phase II

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) has issued an international call for tenders for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of Phase II of a 100-megawatt peak (MWp) solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in the Shinyanga Region. The project is part of the country’s drive to diversify its energy sources and enhance sustainable electricity production.

The initiative, financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), invites eligible international contractors to submit bids for the construction and installation of the solar plant. The process will follow the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures as outlined in Tanzania’s Public Procurement Regulations, Government Notice No. 518 of 2024.

Interested bidders can purchase the tender documents for a non-refundable fee of USD 200, excluding transaction charges. Submissions must be made by 10:30 a.m. East African Time on June 2, 2025. Bidders must include an original tender security of USD 200,000 in the form of a bank guarantee or cheque, valid for 28 days beyond the tender validity period.

A mandatory pretender meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2025, at TANESCO’s regional office in Kishapu, Shinyanga, followed by a site visit on April 17. Attendance at both events is strongly encouraged for prospective bidders to understand the local conditions and project scope.

All tender documents should be submitted in hard and soft copies to the Secretary of the Tender Board at TANESCO’s Umeme Park Building in Dar es Salaam. Tenders will be opened publicly on the same day immediately after the submission deadline.
