Huasun Energy Shortlisted for CNPC’s 2025 Procument of 9.6 GW Solar Module Supply

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has officially announced the shortlisted candidates for its 2025 centralized procurement project for photovoltaic modules, totaling 9.6 GW. Huasun Energy, with its outstanding product performance and in-depth technical expertise, has successfully secured a position in the sixth bidding package to supply 100 MW of heterojunction (HJT) PV modules. This achievement reinforces Huasun’s leading role in the HJT technology sector and underscores the growing adoption of HJT in major energy projects.

CNPC, as a leading force in China’s energy sector, is accelerating its transition toward green and low-carbon development in line with the country’s “dual carbon” goals. The company is rapidly expanding its renewable energy portfolio, including both utility-scale and distributed PV projects.

This large-scale tender represents a major milestone in CNPC’s clean energy agenda, emphasizing the importance of high efficiency and reliable photovoltaic technologies. The sixth segment of the procurement specifically targets HJT modules for deployment in regions such as Xinjiang, Northwest China. Selection criteria prioritized module efficiency, temperature coefficient, long-term reliability, and mass production capabilities—underscoring CNPC’s confidence in HJT’s performance under harsh environmental conditions.

Huasun, a leader in HJT technology, operates a vertically integrated production chain covering silicon ingot, wafers, cells, and modules. With an annual capacity of 20 GW—accounting for over 50% of global HJT capacity—the company has cumulatively
shipped 11 GW of modules to date.

Huasun brings extensive experience in national utility-scale solar projects, notably supplying 1.8 GW of modules to the 4 GW Ruoqiang plant in Xinjiang—the world’s largest HJT project to date. This underscores Huasun’s mass-production capabilities and the suitability of HJT modules for extreme climates. In Xinjiang’s high-temperature, high- irradiation environment, HJT technology is approved to deliver superior energy yield with its optimized temperature coefficient and bifacial power generation gains.

Technologically, Huasun continues to set industry benchmarks. In 2024, its 210 mm HJT cells achieved a record efficiency of 26.5%, while its G12 Himalaya series HJT solar modules reached a champion output power of 768.938W. Empirical results from China Testing & Certification International Group (CTC)’s Hainan demonstration site confirms the modules’ high energy yield and reliability in high-temperature environments.

Huasun’s inclusion in CNPC’s tender marks a significant advancement in the commercialization of HJT technology, signaling its wider recognition and adoption within national energy strategies. And the deployment of HJT modules will play a vital role in supporting CNPC’s efforts to build a high-efficiency, low-carbon energy system. Moving forward, Huasun remains committed to driving HJT innovation and strengthening industry partnerships to accelerate the global transition toward clean energy and carbon neutrality.
