Chinese engineering giant POWERCHINA has officially commenced contract management for the Conchagua 30MW Solar EPC Project, following its recent contract win in El Salvador.
Located in the La Uniรณn Bay area, approximately 145 kilometers southeast of the capital San Salvador, the project includes the design, construction, equipment supply, installation, trial operation, and commercial testing of a 30-megawatt photovoltaic power plant along with a 34.5/115kV substation.
According to project specifications, the solar facility is expected to generate approximately 71.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, corresponding to 1,944 hours of use per year. Once operational, the project will offset an estimated 50,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, supplying clean energy to thousands of households across the region.
The Conchagua solar initiative is seen as a strategic step in strengthening El Salvadorโs renewable energy capacity. It is also expected to support local employment, drive economic activity, and contribute to the countryโs broader climate goals.
The project marks a significant addition to POWERCHINAโs growing portfolio of renewable energy ventures in Latin America, reinforcing its commitment to global sustainable infrastructure development.
