EDF Renewables North America and Power Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Inc. (PSEI) are pleased to announce the successful closing of longโ€‘term financing for the Desert Quartzite Solar+Storage Project. Located in Riverside County, California, the facility combines 375 MWdc of photovoltaic capacity with a 150 MWac battery energy storage system designed to deliver four hours of power output. Commercial operations began in December 2024, and the project today contributes clean, reliable electricity to the regional grid.

The financing package was arranged and led by KfW IPEXโ€‘Bank, with participation from MUFG Bank Ltd., Export Development Canada, Korea Development Bank and four additional international banks. This transaction represents EDF Renewablesโ€™ first application of project leverage in the United States in more than ten years, underscoring both the strength of the projectโ€™s structure and the continued investor confidence in largeโ€‘scale renewable energy and storage developments.

Desert Quartzite Solar+Storage will play a key role in supporting Californiaโ€™s energy transition by pairing solar generation with four hours of battery storage, enabling the delivery of clean power even after sunset. The combined solar and storage capacity is expected to displace significant quantities of fossilโ€‘fueled generation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance grid stability across the region.
