Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA, a joint venture between Ameresco, Inc., a leading energy solutions provider, and SUNEL Group, an international solar photovoltaic (PV) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, has announced the signing of EPC contracts worth โ‚ฌ303.4 million for the development of three major solar parks in southwestern Romania. These projects, with a combined capacity of 466 MWp, mark a significant advancement in Romaniaโ€™s energy transition efforts and reflect the countryโ€™s commitment to phasing out coal-fired power generation by 2032. The initiative aims to enhance energy security, stimulate economic growth, and meet both national and European climate objectives.

As the EPC provider, Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA will be responsible for the comprehensive development of the solar parks, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and long-term operation and maintenance. The solar installations will include over 757,000 fixed-tilt solar modules, engineered to optimize energy capture and maintain high operational efficiency. These systems will play a key role in replacing coal-based energy, reinforcing Romaniaโ€™s trajectory toward cleaner, more sustainable electricity generation.
