Zelestra, a global renewable energy company known for its multi-technology expertise and customer-focused approach, has begun construction of a new solar power plant in Ginosa, located in the Taranto province of Italyโ€™s Puglia region. The plant will have an installed capacity of 6.5 MWdc and is expected to generate approximately 11.7 GWh of electricity annually.

This project is part of a broader collaboration between Zelestra and BKW Energy, which includes a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the procurement of renewable energy. In addition to the Ginosa plant, the agreement covers the future development of the Bellomo project in Modica, Sicily, which will have an installed capacity of 9.5 MWdc and is scheduled to begin construction later this year.

Construction of the Ginosa project has already created around 50 jobs, contributing to local employment. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in February 2026 and is projected to prevent the emission of nearly 3,700 tons of CO2 annually, supporting Italyโ€™s environmental goals. Altenia, part of the Terna Energy Solutions Group, is serving as the main EPC contractor for the Ginosa site. Known for its advanced and customized infrastructure solutions, Altenia brings expertise in managing high and medium-voltage energy systems and is a key partner to companies and investors in the sector.
