CleanMax’s 92 MW Green Energy Project In Karnataka Recognized With Cisco Environmental Sustainability Award

CleanMax, a Brookfield-backed company and a leading provider of renewable energy and net-zero solutions for the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector in India, has been awarded the Excellence in Sustainability Award at Cisco’s Global Supplier Day, held in San Jose, California. This recognition was given in acknowledgment of CleanMax’s efforts in helping reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through innovative and impactful renewable energy solutions.

A major contributor to this recognition is the recent partnership between CleanMax and Cisco, which led to the development and commissioning of a 92.1 megawatt (MW) hybrid wind-solar project located in Jagluru, Karnataka. This project now supplies clean energy to Cisco’s India campus, marking a significant step in Cisco’s transition to renewable energy in the region.

Mr. Kuldeep Jain, MD of CleanMax, stated, “This award from Cisco reflects our shared commitment to the environment and the journey we have taken together over the past several years. As a net-zero partner, CleanMax is focused on empowering corporations to meet their renewable energy requirements, and we are excited to be part of that journey with a tech giant like Cisco. Our partnership with Cisco underscores a shared commitment to high standards and sustainable practices.”

Mary de Wysocki, Chief Sustainability Officer, Cisco, said in a statement, “As a trusted technology partner to businesses across the country, we are committed to powering an inclusive future for all. Recognizing partners who have helped customers achieve substantial business outcomes, the Excellence in Sustainability Award celebrates CleanMax’s dedication to accelerating the availability of clean energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

Currently, CleanMax powers the Cisco India campus with approximately 120 MW of renewable energy. This includes the newly commissioned 92.1 MW hybrid project and an additional 28.7 MWp of solar capacity that has been operational since March 2018. Together, these installations are projected to generate around 181.4 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually.

The use of this renewable energy is expected to help avoid about 129,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions each year. With this setup, Cisco is now able to meet over 90 percent of its electricity requirements in Karnataka through renewable sources. This collaboration between CleanMax and Cisco not only reflects a strong commitment to sustainability but also showcases the potential of large-scale renewable energy solutions in supporting corporate climate goals.
