Iberdrola’s Solar Communities Bring Clean Energy to 100,000+ Families Across Spain

Iberdrola España has reached 1,000 solar communities, bringing clean, self-consumption energy to over 100,000 families. A pioneer in the space since 2015, Iberdrola launched its solar communities in 2019 to make renewable energy accessible to residents in high-rise buildings.

These communities allow users to benefit from solar power without installing panels or making any upfront investment—installations are fully managed by Iberdrola.

Madrid leads with 170 solar communities, followed by the Valencian Community with 148. Extremadura has the highest number of households—over 19,000—benefiting from this model.

Customers save up to 30% on electricity bills, while each community helps avoid around 640 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over 30 years, contributing to cleaner local air and reduced fossil fuel reliance.
