In a strategic move to bolster global energy transition efforts, German multinational technology group Wilo and the UAEโs leading clean energy company Masdar have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly advance renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives across the Middle East and beyond.
The agreement was formalized during a ceremonial signing at Wiloโs newly expanded production plant in Dubai, attended by North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister-President Hendrik Wรผst, who is currently on a four-day delegation tour through Qatar and the UAE. Also present were Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of Wilo Group; Husain Al Meer, Director of Global Offshore Wind & UK at Masdar; and Jens Dallendรถrfer, Regional CEO of Wilo AMEA.
The partnership underscores a shared vision for addressing the global energy crisis through integrated solutions that combine renewable power generation with advanced efficiency technologies.
โThis cooperation agreement symbolically illustrates how we must respond to the global energy shortage. Itโs not just about increasing renewable energy generation โ we must also enhance energy efficiency. Only by addressing both supply and demand sides can we achieve meaningful global energy transitions,โ said Oliver Hermes, emphasizing the role of strategic alliances like that of Wilo and Masdar.
Echoing the sentiment, Husain Al Meer highlighted the complementary strengths of the two companies:
โThis agreement brings together Masdarโs green energy expertise with Wiloโs advanced cooling, heating, and manufacturing capabilities. It reflects our joint commitment to innovation, customer value, and a cleaner, more efficient world. It also reinforces Masdarโs investment ties with Germany, a critical strategic market for us.โ
Minister-President Hendrik Wรผst praised Wiloโs transformation journey and its growing global footprint, noting its symbolic importance for North Rhine-Westphaliaโs industrial evolution.
โWilo showcases how regions like North Rhine-Westphalia, once centered around coal, are now pioneering sustainable industrial solutions โ from Dortmund to Dubai. Such innovation is key to our goal of becoming Europeโs first climate-neutral industrial region,โ he said.
This cooperation agreement marks a pivotal step in strengthening German-UAE industrial ties and accelerating climate-friendly innovation worldwide.
