APM Projects has won the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a 10 MW solar power project from the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India. The grid-connected solar project will be developed at Lakhanpur in the Mahanadi Coalfields region. The total value of the contract is ₹487.33 million. CMPDI had floated the tender in November 2024.
The project will be installed on a 15-hectare plot of land in Kirarama village, located near Lakhanpur. APM Projects will be responsible for the complete design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, storage, and civil works. The scope also includes the erection, testing, and commissioning of the plant. In addition, the company must handle power evacuation and provide ten years of operations and maintenance services. All required permits and licenses must also be secured by the contractor.
The technical requirements specify the use of solar modules with a minimum capacity of 550 Wp. For power conversion, string inverters of at least 250 kW capacity are mandated. The electricity generated will be evacuated at 33 kV using a double-circuit overhead transmission line. This line will be constructed on 13-meter-high rail poles with all-aluminum alloy conductors. The nearest substation for connection is the 132/33 kV Jorabaga central substation, located about 4.2 kilometers from the project site.
