Waaree Energies Limited, one of India’s leading companies in the clean energy transition, has once again reinforced its leadership in the solar industry by securing a remarkable 17.3% share of total solar module shipments in the first quarter of 2025. According to the latest JMK Research report, this achievement confirms Waaree’s pivotal role in driving India’s renewable energy growth and enhancing the nation’s self-reliance in solar manufacturing.
The first quarter of 2025 witnessed significant growth for India’s solar sector, with the country adding approximately 5.93 gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale solar capacity, marking a 12.2% increase over the previous quarter. Rooftop solar installations also reached 1.34 GW, driven by strong policy support and initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. By March 2025, India’s cumulative solar capacity reached 105.6 GW, maintaining its position as the largest contributor to the country’s renewable energy mix.
Waaree Energies stood out among 24 major module suppliers, emerging as the leader by shipping the highest volume of solar modules in Q1 2025. Its 17.3% market share outpaced both domestic and international competitors and underscored the growing preference for indigenous manufacturing. In a quarter where domestic manufacturers contributed to 89.9% of total solar module shipments, Waaree’s strong performance reflected the increasing shift towards “Made in India” solar solutions.
Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director & CEO, Waaree Energies Limited, said in a statement, “Our leadership position in India’s solar module market is a testament to Waaree’s unwavering dedication to advancing world-class solar technology and accelerating the country’s clean energy transition. This achievement highlights the nation’s growing confidence in domestic manufacturing and marks a significant step forward in our shared journey towards energy self-sufficiency. At Waaree, every module we deliver represents more than just cutting-edge engineering — it is a promise fulfilled to our customers, our communities, and the vision of a self-reliant, energy-secure India.”
The company’s influence extends beyond the domestic market. In Q1 2025, Waaree more than doubled its export shipments compared to the previous quarter, reinforcing its position as a global solar leader. Waaree’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, with an installed capacity of around 15 GW for solar PV modules, enable it to deliver high-quality and cost-effective solar solutions to over 25 countries across the globe.
India’s solar sector is on track for rapid expansion, with projections indicating the addition of over 30 GW of new solar capacity in FY2026. Waaree Energies continues to play a critical role in supporting the country’s ambitious renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030. The company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, supply chain resilience, and policy advocacy positions it at the forefront of India’s clean energy revolution.
