In a significant boost to sustainable agriculture, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. has secured its largest-ever contract in the solar water pump sector. The Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has awarded the company a contract worth over Rs. 101 crore (excluding GST) for the installation of 4,500 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems (SPWPS) across the state. This project falls under Component-B of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.
The contract marks a major milestone for Crompton in its push for renewable and farmer-focused irrigation solutions. Designed to function in off-grid and rural regions, the solar-powered DC submersible pumps promise durability, high performance, and operational easeโdirectly addressing water access issues faced by farmers in underserved areas.
This turnkey project includes the complete lifecycle of the pumping systemsโfrom design and manufacturing to supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning. Additionally, the contract covers a five-year comprehensive maintenance commitment, ensuring long-term support and reliability.
To execute the project efficiently, Crompton plans to leverage its trained field staff, dedicated district-level support teams, and a strong after-sales service network to provide seamless delivery and ongoing service.
This win underscores Cromptonโs expanding leadership in sustainable irrigation and renewable energy solutions. It also highlights the companyโs alignment with national efforts to integrate green technologies into agriculture, enhancing livelihoods while promoting environmental stewardship.
