Under the renewed contract, more companies under the conglomerate JG Summit Holdings, Inc. will now be powered by MPower. These include key subsidiaries such as Robinsons Land Corporation, Cebu Pacific, Universal Robina Corporation, JG Summit Olefins Corporation, RL Commercial REIT, Inc., and Robinsons Supermarket Corporation, a unit of Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc.

The agreement ensures that these businesses will continue to receive a stable, cost-competitive, and greener electricity supply, with up to 60% of their power coming from renewable sources.

โ€œThis agreement goes beyond securing a reliable power supply โ€“ it represents our collective commitment to sustainability and innovation,โ€ said JG Summit President and CEO Lance Y. Gokongwei. โ€œWe are committed to reducing our environmental impact while continuing to serve communities effectively.โ€

Meralco Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan highlighted the long-standing collaboration between the two companies, which began in 2013. โ€œOur two groups have shared more than just business interests over the yearsโ€”weโ€™ve shared a deep commitment to nation-building, innovation, and service to the Filipino people,โ€ Pangilinan said. โ€œThis partnership reflects that shared purpose as we work together to empower communities and contribute to a stronger, more sustainable Philippines.โ€

MPower currently serves contestable customers within Meralcoโ€™s franchise area and holds more than 25% of the retail electricity market. The company is also working to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix, responding to growing demand among corporate clients for cleaner power solutions.

The expanded deal signals another milestone in the Gokongwei Groupโ€™s broader sustainability journey and further strengthens MPowerโ€™s position as a major player in the countryโ€™s retail electricity sector.
