A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Christianburg Multilateral School Project took place on June 23 in Linden, Guyana. The project is being carried out by POWERCHINA.

The event was attended by Guyana’s Prime Minister, Mark Phillips; Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand; and Diletta Doretti, a representative of the World Bank.

Once completed, the school will serve 1,000 students and 140 teachers, becoming the largest secondary institution in Region 10. Prime Minister Phillips underscored the vital importance of education as a foundation for national development and voiced confidence in the project team’s ability to meet high construction standards in delivering a modern and well-equipped campus.

The new facility is expected to significantly enhance educational opportunities in Linden by improving infrastructure, resources, and learning conditions—helping shape the next generation of leaders in Guyana.

This marks POWERCHINA’s second major building initiative in the country, reinforcing its dedication to executing impactful public welfare projects with excellence.
