The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has unveiled a new weekly statistical series highlighting Indiaโs clean energy growth, starting with a snapshot of the countryโs dramatic increase in renewable power capacities since 2014.
According to the data shared by the ministry, India has witnessed a remarkable fivefold growth in solar, wind, and bio-energy capacities over the past decade, a development attributed to strong policy push and widespread adoption of clean technologies.
As per the statistics:
- Solar power capacity surged from 2,821 MW in 2014 to 1,10,834 MW by May 2025
- Wind energy grew from 21,042 MW to 51,292 MW during the same period
- Bio-energy rose from 8,179 MW to 11,594 MW
The MNRE noted that this significant growth reflects the success of central schemes, increased rooftop installations, and expanding wind corridors, underscoring Indiaโs commitment to its clean energy transition.
Describing the initiative as โa story of ambition backed by action,โ the ministryโs post stated that each weekโs update will offer visual and concise insights into the countryโs progress on renewable energy, offering a data-driven look into the future of Indiaโs energy landscape.
