In a move to strengthen Nigeriaโ€™s clean energy drive, the Kogi State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) to improve energy access through renewable sources. The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโ€™s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at boosting sustainable development nationwide.

The collaboration was formalized during a working visit by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the ECN headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission.

Discussions during the visit focused on accelerating clean energy projects across Kogi State, with a particular emphasis on off-grid electricity solutions for underserved and rural communities. The partnership is expected to drive the deployment of solar-powered infrastructure, supporting the stateโ€™s broader energy inclusion goals.

Dr. Abdullahi presented ECNโ€™s key frameworks, including the National Energy Master Plan and the Renewed Hope Solarization Project, which aims to implement solar energy solutionsโ€”such as solar street lightingโ€”across all 36 states in Nigeria.
