ReNew Marks 15 Years of Clean Energy Leadership, Releases FY25 Integrated Report Showcasing Sustainability Milestones

ReNew Energy Global Plc , one of Indiaโ€™s leading decarbonization solution providers, has released its second Annual Integrated Report for FY 2024-25 titled โ€œScaling New Indiaโ€™s Leap with Clean Energy Solutions: Innovating Sustainablyโ€. The report outlines the companyโ€™s progress in clean energy, sustainability, and social impact as it marks its 15th year of operations.

Founded in 2011 as a pure-play Independent Power Producer (IPP), ReNew has since evolved into a global provider of integrated decarbonization solutions, playing a significant role in Indiaโ€™s clean energy transition.

ReNewโ€™s Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Sumant Sinha, emphasized the importance of this milestone:
โ€œIndia is in the middle of a once-in-a-generation clean energy leap, one that will define the worldโ€™s future. This year holds special significance as we celebrate ReNewโ€™s 15th year. We are growing with purpose, guided by a long-term view that places sustainability at the core of value creation.โ€

Key Highlights from the FY25 Integrated Report

Emissions and Renewable Energy Progress

  • Carbon emissions avoided: 18.6 million tonnes in FY25
  • Scope 1 & 2 emissions reduction: 18.2% from the FY22 baseline, surpassing the annual target of 12.6%
  • Carbon neutrality: Maintained for the fifth consecutive year
  • Renewable electricity use: 76%, ahead of the 2025 target of 50%

Clean Energy Generation and Portfolio Growth

  • Clean energy generated: Over 22 billion kWh, meeting 2% of Indiaโ€™s electricity demand
  • Commissioned portfolio: 10.7 GW
  • Net profit: INR 4.6 billion

Water Stewardship

  • Water saved: Over 540 million litres, a 50% increase from the previous year
  • Goal: Water positive by 2030

Sustainable Supply Chain and ESG Integration

  • Conducted its first Life Cycle Assessment and published a verified Environmental Product Declaration for solar PV modules
  • Achieved 100% ESG assessments for critical suppliers

Social and Governance Impact

  • Lives impacted through CSR: Over 1.7 million
  • Gender diversity: 16% overall, 40% board representation by women
  • Women in STEM: 12%
  • Women in management: 17%

Global Reporting Alignment

The FY25 Integrated Report adheres to the IIRC framework under the IFRS Foundation and references a range of global standards, including:

  • GRI Standards 2021
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • SASB, UNGC, UN WEPs
  • IFC Standards and Equator Principles
  • IFRS S2 (formerly TCFD) and TNFD
  • Double Materiality approach under EFRAG and CSRD

Additionally, ReNew voluntarily mapped its sustainability performance to the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR), becoming one of the few Indian companies to take this step.
