Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Microsoft UAE have held discussions to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation and sustainable development.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, met with Amr Kamel, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, at DEWAโs headquarters, where both sides explored avenues for collaboration in cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, cybersecurity, and smart grid technologies.
The meeting focused on aligning DEWAโs initiatives in smart infrastructure, renewable energy, and utility services with Microsoftโs global expertise in advanced digital solutions. The two parties reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to enhance efficiency, improve customer experience, and support the UAEโs digital economy and sustainability goals.
Al Tayer said the collaboration with Microsoft is a key step in DEWAโs ambition to become the worldโs first AI-native utility, deploying AI across core operations. โBy integrating AI and cloud-based solutions, we aim to enhance renewable energy capabilities, drive operational excellence, and provide world-class services in line with Dubaiโs vision for sustainability and innovation,โ he noted.
The discussions covered the use of AI and analytics for predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, and energy optimisation, as well as adopting cloud platforms to strengthen system scalability and security. Other areas of focus included smart grid solutions for efficient integration of distributed renewables and initiatives to bolster cybersecurity resilience for critical infrastructure.
Kamel underlined Microsoftโs commitment to supporting UAE organisations, stating: โDEWA is a clear leader in adopting innovation for sustainable utility services. We are committed to providing our trusted cloud platforms, advanced AI capabilities, and cybersecurity solutions to empower DEWA’s initiatives and contribute to Dubaiโs position as a global technology hub.โ
The meeting also addressed joint initiatives in digital skills development and innovation, supporting Dubaiโs Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.
