SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd, has operationalised an additional 100 MW capacity at its 1,000 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. With this latest commissioning, the cumulative operational capacity of the project has reached approximately 830.7 MW.
The Bikaner solar project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II (Tranche-III) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and is executed in Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, supporting the governmentโs Make in India initiative for indigenous solar manufacturing.
Once fully commissioned, the project will supply solar power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, strengthening clean energy availability across multiple states. The project is among Indiaโs largest single-location solar installations and is expected to play a key role in advancing the countryโs target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
SJVN stated that the remaining capacity of the Bikaner project is progressing steadily and will be operationalised in phases. The milestone also aligns with SJVNโs long-term growth strategy of achieving 25 GW installed capacity by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040, with renewables forming a major part of its expansion roadmap.
