SWELECT Energy Systems Ltd., a leading renewable energy solutions provider, has announced the appointment of Dr. Arulkumar Shanmugasundaram as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The leadership change marks a new chapter for the company as outgoing MD, R. Chellappan, transitions to the role of Vice-Chairman. In his new capacity, Chellappan will continue to provide strategic direction while supporting the growth of the organization.
Dr. Shanmugasundaram brings with him more than three decades of global experience across technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Most recently, he served as Executive Director – Operations at Ayana Renewable Power, overseeing business development, engineering, technology, IT, and asset management functions. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer at Tata Power Solar Systems for seven years.
An alumnus of IIT Madras, Dr. Shanmugasundaram pursued his Master’s and PhD at Cornell University, USA.
Commenting on the appointment, Chellappan said the company would benefit immensely from his leadership, citing his strong industry expertise and commitment to clean energy. Dr. Shanmugasundaram emphasized that SWELECT’s strong financial foundation, reliable solar and storage assets, and long-standing customer trust position it well for future growth. He added that the company is prepared to deliver advanced battery energy storage solutions while continuing to build on its legacy in solar manufacturing and EPC.
