Integrated Batteries India (IB Solar) has announced plans to invest ₹3,000 crore in setting up a state-of-the-art 4GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. The ambitious project is a significant step toward bolstering India’s domestic solar manufacturing capabilities and aligns with the government’s vision of promoting renewable energy and industrial growth.
YEIDA Approves Land Allotment
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has cleared the allotment of 25 acres of land in Sector 8 for the development of the plant. The site, located close to the Noida International Airport and along the Yamuna Expressway, offers strategic advantages in terms of connectivity and logistics. This prime location is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and provide IB Solar with a competitive edge in domestic as well as international markets.
Part of Uttar Pradesh’s Industrial Push
This investment comes as part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader strategy to attract large-scale investments and transform the Noida–Jewar region into a major industrial and renewable energy hub. With the international airport under development, the government envisions the area as a magnet for manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy projects.
“Ultra Mega Project” Status
The proposed manufacturing facility has been designated an “ultra mega project”, a classification reserved for projects involving investments of ₹3,000 crore or more. This recognition reflects both the scale of IB Solar’s commitment and the significance of the project for the state’s industrial landscape.
Boost to Domestic Manufacturing and Jobs
Once operational, the 4GW facility will contribute to India’s self-reliance in solar manufacturing, reducing dependence on imports and supporting the country’s clean energy transition. The project is also expected to generate substantial employment opportunities in the region, both directly and indirectly, thereby contributing to local economic growth.
Driving the Renewable Energy Ecosystem The IB Solar project adds momentum to the series of renewable energy and industrial investments being approved in the Yamuna Expressway region. Together, these projects underline Uttar Pradesh’s growing importance as a renewable energy manufacturing destination and highlight the role of strategic infrastructure such as the Jewar airport in shaping the state’s industrial future.
