UAE and Indonesia Presidents Discuss CEPA, Renewable Energy and Strategic Economic Cooperation

Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Prabowo Subianto in Abu Dhabi during the Indonesian leaderโ€™s working visit to the United Arab Emirates, with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across key strategic sectors.

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Bahr, where the two leaders exchanged Ramadan greetings and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing ties between the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.

Focus on Economic and Development Cooperation

Talks centred on expanding collaboration under the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries. Both sides explored opportunities in priority sectors including economy and trade, renewable energy, technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, food security and culture.

The leaders highlighted the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, established in 1976, as a milestone that provides momentum to further strengthen economic and development partnerships.

President Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAEโ€™s commitment to deepening its long-standing relationship with Indonesia, built on mutual trust, respect and shared interests, and to enhancing cooperation that supports mutual prosperity.

Regional and Global Issues

The two presidents also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern. They underscored the importance of reinforcing peace and stability at both regional and global levels and emphasised the need to promote political solutions to ongoing crises.

The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroesโ€™ Affairs; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; and Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

The visit reflects the continuing expansion of UAEโ€“Indonesia ties across economic, energy and strategic domains.
