Shell Energy Philippines, Inc. (SEPH) is expanding its renewable energy portfolio to supply more clean power to commercial and industrial customers, aligning with the country’s energy transition goals.

Speaking to the Manila Bulletin at the Clean Energy Transition Forum of the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP), SEPH President and CEO Bernd Krukenberg said the company is prioritizing solar plus battery systems and evaluating onshore wind opportunities. “We are focusing primarily on solar plus battery, so the integrated energy storage systems. We are also looking into onshore wind,” Krukenberg noted.

SEPH has already signed new supply agreements, including a partnership with PetroSolar Corp. for 20 MW from the Tarlac-2 solar power plant and an agreement with Daiichi Properties to deliver renewable energy to its office buildings.

A direct participant in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), SEPH currently supplies electricity to more than 100 commercial and industrial clients across sectors such as real estate, manufacturing, education, and retail.

Krukenberg confirmed a recent deal with a data center operator, pointing to the sector’s growing power demand. He added that SEPH is also eyeing opportunities in semiconductors and electronic manufacturing, industries known for their high electricity consumption.

According to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Philippine data center market is projected to grow to USD 1.97 billion within five years, reflecting rising demand for cloud-based storage and processing solutions.
