The 72.5-megawatt Stelpe Solar Farm II, developed by Ignitis Renewables in Latvia, has officially reached commercial operation. Located in the southern Bauska municipality, the solar farm spans 85 hectares and is equipped with 121,000 solar panels. Total investments in the project, including acquisition and construction costs, are estimated at approximately EUR 54 million.
Stelpe Solar Farm II forms part of the larger Stelpe solar project, which consists of two sites, each with a capacity of 72.5 MW. Together, the two sites provide a combined installed capacity of 145 MW, sufficient to meet the electricity needs of around 70,000 households.
Ignitis Renewables continues to actively develop renewable energy projects across Latvia. Earlier this year, the 94 MW Varme solar farm also reached commercial operation, and development of the 174 MW Tume solar farm remains on schedule. Collectively, these projects will contribute over 400 MW of installed capacity, capable of covering the electricity demand of nearly 200,000 households.
The company is expanding its activities while maintaining close cooperation with local municipalities and communities, implementing social support initiatives, and adhering to strict environmental standards. Stelpe Solar Farm II is part of Ignitis Renewablesโ broader strategy to create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy ecosystem across the Baltic region, reinforcing its commitment to advancing renewable energy and supporting local communities.
