The BC Jindal Group, one of Indiaโs leading business conglomerates with a turnover exceeding Rs 18,000 crore, is steadily expanding its footprint in the countryโs renewable energy sector. Its renewable energy arm, Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE), has already built an order book of Rs 6,500 crore in FY26, with additional projects underway. Since entering the renewable sector in FY25, JIRE has secured a total of 750 MW of projects, representing an investment of approximately Rs 8,000 crore.
A spokesperson for the BC Jindal Group stated that the company aims to achieve 5 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with an investment of $2.5 billion over the next five years. This aligns with the governmentโs target of installing 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. To reach this goal, the group plans to deploy a mix of solar, wind, hybrid, and Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects, while simultaneously expanding its existing clean energy assets across India over the next four years.
In FY26, JIRE secured 450 MW of renewable projects from state-owned entities, including SJVN and the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). This includes a 300 MW solar plus storage project from SJVN under its 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project tender, which also involves 600 MW/2,400 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Additionally, JIRE won a 150 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable project through a reverse auction conducted by SECI for its 1,200 MW RTC renewable energy initiative. The spokesperson highlighted that winning substantial orders from prominent state-owned entities in such a short period demonstrates the groupโs technical expertise and capability to execute large-scale renewable energy projects efficiently.
As part of its FY25 order book, JIRE also received a Letter of Acceptance for a 300 MW solar plus storage project from NHPC, which is part of NHPCโs 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar power initiative with 600 MW/1,200 MWh of energy storage systems. Founded in 1952 by Shri B.C. Jindal, the BC Jindal Group has a diversified portfolio that includes packaging films, energy, and steel products, with JIRE representing the groupโs growing focus on sustainable energy solutions.
