According to the announcement, the project will have a planned generation capacity of approximately 150 MW and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2027. The solar facility will span a total area of 1.2 km².

This initiative marks a major milestone in Bahrain’s renewable energy strategy, positioning the kingdom to accelerate its clean energy transition and strengthen energy security through private sector participation.

This tender is part of Bahrain’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The project is expected to attract both local and foreign investment, foster innovation through private sector participation, and support the transfer of clean energy technologies into the Kingdom.

Once operational, the facility will contribute significantly to national energy security by providing renewable power to thousands of homes, advancing Bahrain’s long-term sustainability goals and positioning it as an emerging leader in the region’s renewable energy transition.
