South Eastern Railway Issues Tender for 1.37 MW Rooftop Solar Project in Howrah

The South Eastern Railway (SER) has issued a tender for the installation of 1.37 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems across various railway facilities under the Santragachi Division in Howrah, West Bengal.

According to the tender document, the rooftop solar systems will be installed on residential buildings, service buildings, railway stations, and level crossing gates. The estimated project value is approximately ₹149.7 million.

  • Security Deposit: 5% of the total contract value as per Indian Railways’ General Conditions of Contract (GCC) 2022
  • Technical Criteria: Bidders must have completed similar solar projects in the past seven years—either three projects worth at least 30% of tender value, two projects worth 40%, or one project worth 60% of the contract value
  • Financial Criteria: Bidders must meet the minimum average annual turnover requirement for the last three financial years

The tender is part of South Eastern Railway’s ongoing efforts to enhance renewable energy adoption within its infrastructure.

The project aligns with Indian Railways’ broader sustainability goals and the national push towards cleaner energy and decentralized power generation.
