Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has issued a major tender for a renewable energy project, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable power generation across its operational areas. The tender focuses on establishing a substantial grid-connected solar power plant, combining both innovative solar trees and traditional rooftop installations in various CCL project locations. The project aims to generate 1,545 KW (AC) of power, with a minimum 20% DC overloading capacity, resulting in a minimum plant capacity of 1,854.06 KWP.

The scope of the project is comprehensive, covering the entire lifecycle from design and engineering to procurement, supply, construction, erection, testing, and final commissioning. The selected contractor will be responsible for all civil, structural, and electrical works, as well as obtaining the necessary connectivity approvals from the distribution company (Discom). The project also includes a ten-year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) period, ensuring the plant remains operational and efficient over the long term.

The tender is being managed by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd. (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, based in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The commercial tender document, Volume I, was released in November 2025, and interested contractors must access detailed documentation and submit their bids through the e-procurement portal of Coal India Limited.

Participation in the tender requires a substantial Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of โ‚น50 lakh to demonstrate the financial capacity and seriousness of prospective bidders. The successful bidder will also need to provide a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) equal to 3% of the total contract value. This guarantee ensures adherence to quality standards and completion of the project, including the ten-year O&M period.

The tender process has a clearly defined timeline. The last date for online bid submission is December 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM, with technical bids scheduled to open online on December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Bidders are required to follow the Coal India Integrity Pact (CIPP), which must be signed and executed at the time of the formal agreement.

This initiative by CCL is expected to make a significant contribution to the renewable energy mix in its operational regions. By integrating solar trees and rooftop installations, the project reflects the companyโ€™s commitment to cleaner energy solutions and long-term sustainability. With strict eligibility criteria, a comprehensive scope of work, and a decade-long O&M commitment, the tender aims to attract experienced and capable contractors who can deliver a high-quality and reliable solar power plant. The project aligns with CCLโ€™s broader objective of enhancing renewable energy generation while supporting environmental and energy efficiency goals in Jharkhand and other operational areas.
