Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, the authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with France-based Energy Observer Developments (EODev) and UAE-based Octopian Global Services to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen-powered generator technologies in the Kingdom.

The partnership supports Saudi Arabia’s broader clean-energy goals under Saudi Vision 2030 and strengthens ongoing efforts to position the Kingdom as a global hydrogen hub. After earlier hydrogen mobility pilots, Abdul Latif Jameel Motors is expanding its focus to include stationary hydrogen applications.

Under the agreement, the three parties will collaborate on introducing, demonstrating, and ultimately localising EODev’s hydrogen power technologies in Saudi Arabia. EODev’s portfolio includes the GEH2 stationary hydrogen generator, which uses Toyota fuel cell technology to deliver reliable, zero-emission power for industrial, commercial, and remote applications.

Mazin Ghazi Jameel, Managing Director of Toyota Marketing Operations, said the partnership underscores Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s low-carbon transition. “By expanding hydrogen solutions beyond mobility and into wider applications, we aim to help build a cleaner and more efficient energy landscape for everyone,” he said.

EODev Deputy CEO Stéphane Jardin described the collaboration as a key step in the company’s global expansion. “Together, we aim to support Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a leader in clean, reliable, and zero-emission energy,” he noted.

Dr. Tariq Jbarah, CEO of Octopian Global Services, said the agreement aligns with the company’s mission to advance smart, resilient energy ecosystems across the region.

The MoU also sets the foundation for potential local assembly, future production opportunities, and the development of a full hydrogen generator value chain in Saudi Arabia. The partners said the collaboration reflects a shared ambition to scale zero-emission power solutions and contribute to the Kingdom’s long-term carbon neutrality goals.
