IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to launch a ₹76.42-lakh CSR-backed project aimed at developing an indigenous solar hydrogen-based clean cooking and micro-power system for rural communities.

The initiative is aligned with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and is designed to provide sustainable and pollution-free alternatives to traditional biomass and fossil-fuel-based cooking systems in rural households.

The project intends to support energy access, reduce health risks associated with smoke emissions, and accelerate rural adoption of clean energy technologies. By integrating hydrogen technology with solar power, the system aims to offer an efficient, cost-effective and scalable clean energy solution for village households.

Officials from both institutions stated that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing innovation in the green energy space, while contributing to India’s broader climate goals and net-zero vision.
