Soudah Development And National Grid SA Partner On SAR 1.3 Billion Power Network For Soudah Peaks In Saudi Arabia

A new milestone has been reached in Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure and tourism development landscape, as Soudah Development has signed a SAR 1.3 billion agreement with National Grid SA, a subsidiary of the Saudi Electricity Company. The partnership focuses on providing the essential power infrastructure needed to electrify Soudah Peaks, a major luxury mountain destination currently under development in the Asir region.

The agreement involves the engineering and construction of a comprehensive high-voltage electrical network that will support all stages of the project’s rollout. Under the plan, National Grid SA will establish a primary 380/132 kV substation with a capacity of 500 MVA. In addition, two high-voltage substations operating at 132/13.8 kV will be built to distribute power across the destination’s various zones. These installations are expected to supply reliable electricity to residential, commercial, hospitality, and public service infrastructure as development progresses.

Leadership from both companies emphasized the strategic importance of this agreement. Saleh Al Oraini, CEO of Soudah Development, described the contract as an essential step forward, noting that it provides the foundational infrastructure required to energize every phase of the project. Representing National Grid SA, Waleed Al Saadi highlighted confidence in delivering advanced, reliable energy solutions designed for large-scale projects that are aligned with the Kingdom’s development priorities.

Soudah Peaks is recognized as one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious tourism projects, set 3,015 metres above sea level in the southwestern mountain ranges. The project is envisioned to integrate premium hospitality, leisure, and residential offerings across an extensive natural landscape. Given the scale and elevation of the site, establishing a stable and high-capacity electricity supply is considered crucial to ensuring operational efficiency, sustainability, and visitor satisfaction.

The agreement also supports Saudi Arabia’s broader economic transformation goals, reinforcing infrastructure that enables environmentally responsible tourism and diversified economic growth. By awarding National Grid SA the responsibility of constructing the electrical backbone, Soudah Development aims to secure uninterrupted energy delivery for the destination’s future facilities and services.

As development continues, the SAR 1.3 billion investment is expected to accelerate Soudah Peaks’ progression from an emerging concept to a fully operational luxury destination powered by modern electrical systems.
