The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has announced significant progress under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM), reporting that 10,203 MW of solar capacity has been installed across the country as of November 30, 2025.
The update was shared by Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
According to the Ministry, the scheme continues to operate as a demand-driven model, with capacity allocation based on proposals and implementation progress submitted by states and union territories. Participation is open to individual farmers as well as collectives, including Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Water User Associations (WUAs), and Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS).
Funding and Implementation Status
The Centre has released ₹7,106 crore to states under the scheme so far, based on project demand and progress reports submitted by State Implementing Agencies (SIAs). The scheme is currently being implemented across all states and union territories.
To streamline processes and accelerate implementation, the Ministry issued simplified and comprehensive revised guidelines on January 17, 2024. These guidelines prioritize small and marginal farmers and those adopting micro irrigation technologies.
In addition, capacity-building workshops, review meetings, and outreach campaigns are being conducted regularly to expand awareness and ensure smoother execution.
State-Wise Progress
Data tabled in Parliament shows varying levels of installation across states. Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh have emerged as leading contributors under different components of the scheme.
Under Component-A (decentralized renewable energy generation), Rajasthan tops the chart with 466.75 MW installed against a sanction of 5,250 MW. In Component-B, which focuses on standalone solar pumps, states such as Maharashtra (4,66,719 installations), Haryana (1,80,564), and Rajasthan (1,15,584) show strong deployment numbers.
Meanwhile, under Component-C—focused on grid-connected agriculture pumps—states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan recorded large-scale progress.
Beneficiary Reach
As per Annexure-II, a total of 20,42,459 beneficiaries, including FPOs, have availed benefits under PM-KUSUM till November 2025. Maharashtra leads with over 11.21 lakh beneficiaries, followed by Rajasthan (2.35 lakh), Gujarat (2.28 lakh), Haryana (1.80 lakh), and Uttar Pradesh (72,417).
About PM-KUSUM
Launched to support clean energy adoption in agriculture, the PM-KUSUM scheme aims to reduce farmers’ dependence on diesel and grid electricity, lower irrigation costs, and help them become energy self-reliant.
