SECI Awards 6.25 MW Rooftop Solar PV Projects Across Indian Educational Institutions

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI), a Government of India enterprise, has announced the results of its recent tender for setting up 6.25 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects under RESCO mode. The Request for Submission (RfS) number SECI/C&P/IPP/11/0001/25-26, dated April 21, 2025, covered ten projects across various educational institutions in India. These projects are part of initiatives to promote Swachh Bharat Swachh Urja, supporting clean energy adoption and reflecting Indiaโ€™s commitment to its โ€œSun For Everโ€ vision.

The tender included notable installations such as a 1,500 kW system at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, a 1,000 kW system at the Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda, an 860 kW system at IIT Ropar, a 960 kW system at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, and a 350 kW system at IIM Amritsar. Smaller projects included 85 kW at IIIT Surat, 300 kW at the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, 350 kW at Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, and 350 kW at NIFT Raebareli.

During the techno-commercial bid evaluation, several bidders were shortlisted for each project. For the 1,500 kW project at NIT Kurukshetra, shortlisted bidders included Jai Maa Ambika Associates Private Limited, HFM Solar Power Limited, and Himalayan Solar Limited. The Central University of Punjab project attracted 15 bidders, including Anilka Energy Private Limited, APECO Infrastructure Private Limited, and Canberra Solar. Projects at IIT Ropar and SLIET Longowal each saw 14 bidders qualify for further evaluation.

The financial bids revealed competitive tariffs across the projects. Himalayan Solar Limited offered the lowest tariff of INR 3.69 per kWh for the largest project at NIT Kurukshetra. Enfros Solutions LLP submitted the lowest tariff of INR 3.34 per kWh for projects at IIM Amritsar, Central University of Punjab, IIT Ropar, and SLIET Longowal. Stockwell Solar Services Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya and NIFT Raebareli projects, offering tariffs of INR 3.87 per kWh and INR 3.93 per kWh, respectively. Sesola Power Projects Private Limited offered the lowest tariffs for IIIT Surat and the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada projects at INR 4.65 per kWh and INR 3.85 per kWh.

The successful bidding demonstrates the growing interest in rooftop solar PV systems in India and reflects their increasing commercial viability. SECI, an ISO-certified company, continues to play a significant role in promoting solar energy adoption across the country, supporting both sustainability and clean energy goals.
