PureSky Energy, an independent power producer and provider of sustainable energy solutions, announced that its Canandaigua NY Solar project in New York has reached commercial operation. The solar facility has a total capacity of 4.6 MWdc and is designed to deliver clean, lower-cost electricity to five local businesses within the RG&E utility region, helping them reduce energy expenses while supporting the transition to renewable energy.

The Canandaigua NY Solar project is located in Canandaigua, New York, and has a total installed capacity of 4,619 kW DC. The site is equipped with 8,476 high-efficiency solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 6.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. This level of production is estimated to be enough to power about 927 homes annually and is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 9.8 million pounds per year. Over a 30-year period, the project is projected to deliver more than $2 million in energy cost savings for participating customers.

According to PureSky, the project is part of its shared solar model, which allows local businesses to benefit directly from renewable energy without the need to install on-site systems. In addition to providing lower-cost electricity, the project contributes to the local economy by generating tax revenue for the town and creating job opportunities for residents during development and operation. The Company noted that shared solar projects are particularly impactful in rural communities, where they can deliver meaningful economic and environmental benefits.

Nicholas Topping, Vice President of Community Solar at PureSky Energy, said the Company is pleased to support local businesses by offering access to more affordable electricity while advancing healthier energy solutions in the region. He added that shared solar projects like Canandaigua NY Solar help expand energy choice and create measurable, positive impacts in the communities where they are developed.

PureSky stated that as energy demand continues to rise across the United States, affordable and sustainable renewable energy sources are essential to building a resilient and reliable power grid. Solar energy, in particular, provides communities with flexibility, long-term cost stability, and a pathway to sustainable economic growth. The Company remains committed to the New York market and noted that additional anchor capacity is available across its community solar portfolio in the state.
