Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced the successful commissioning of an important inter-state transmission project, marking another milestone in India’s renewable energy infrastructure development. The information was shared through an official regulatory filing dated December 18, 2025, submitted to both the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited.
The project has been executed by POWERGRID Khavda II-B Transmission Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. The subsidiary was awarded the project through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding route, which is widely used to ensure transparency and cost efficiency in large power transmission projects. The transmission scheme is designed specifically for the evacuation of renewable energy and is titled “Transmission scheme for evacuation of 4.5 GW RE injection at Khavda PS under Phase-II, Part-B.”
As per the company’s disclosure, the entire transmission project was successfully commissioned on December 13, 2025. Following this, POWERGRID received the official Notification for Commercial Operation, also known as DOCO, on December 18, 2025, via email. This notification formally confirms that the project has entered its commercial phase and is now ready to support power transmission operations.
The regulatory filing was made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The document was duly signed by Satyaprakash Dash, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID, ensuring adherence to all statutory disclosure requirements.
The commissioning of this transmission scheme plays a crucial role in strengthening the evacuation infrastructure for renewable energy generated at the Khavda Power Station. By enabling the smooth transfer of large-scale renewable power to the national grid, the project supports India’s broader clean energy goals and helps improve grid reliability. POWERGRID, a key government-owned enterprise, continues to play a central role in expanding and modernising the country’s power transmission network. The company operates from its corporate office in Gurugram, Haryana, while its registered office is located in New Delhi, and it remains committed to supporting India’s growing renewable energy ambitions.
