Mahindra Susten, a leading independent power producer (IPP) in the renewable energy sector, has announced the successful commissioning of 560 MWp of solar power capacity in 2025. These projects represent the first major additions to the company’s portfolio after it sold 1.54 GWp of assets to the Sustainable Energy Infra Trust in 2024, a move aligned with its capital-light business model. The newly commissioned capacity includes two large utility-scale solar projects: a 280 MWp plant in Gujarat and a 280 MWp facility in Rajasthan.
Both projects supply power under 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL), ensuring long-term power delivery to state grids. Together, the two projects cover nearly 2,000 acres and are designed to provide reliable, large-scale solar power. Mahindra Susten used advanced N-Type TOPCon bifacial modules, high-efficiency inverters, dry-cleaning systems, and optimized balance-of-system designs to improve long-term energy generation.
Power from the sites is evacuated through 220 kV substations, helping maintain strong grid stability and smooth integration into high-voltage state networks. The combined 560 MWp capacity is projected to produce close to 1,000 million units (MUs) of clean energy every year. Construction required roughly 12,400 tons of steel, 2,600 km of cable, and about 1 million solar modules. At peak construction, around 1,000 workers were involved, and the projects were completed with 2.9 million safe man-hours, highlighting Mahindra Susten’s commitment to high safety and quality standards.

He emphasized that it reflects Mahindra Susten’s strong execution capabilities and its dedication to delivering large-scale renewable energy projects safely and efficiently. With over 15 years of experience in renewable energy, the company continues to expand its portfolio across solar, wind, hybrid, storage, and group-captive models, supporting India’s clean energy ambitions.
Looking ahead, Mahindra Susten is working on several ongoing projects in Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. Its growing pipeline spans utility-scale PPAs, hybrid wind-solar projects, and group-captive open access developments, placing the company in a strong position to meet the increasing demand for renewable power in India. The company also maintains a strong focus on sustainability and community development. It actively collaborates with local communities around its project sites on initiatives related to skill training, livelihood opportunities, education, and healthcare.
Through programmes like Gyandeep, its school redevelopment initiative, Mahindra Susten has supported more than 2,200 beneficiaries, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and the Mahindra Group’s broader ESG and “Rise” philosophy. Overall, the successful commissioning of these projects demonstrates Mahindra Susten’s ability to deliver large, complex renewable energy assets while contributing meaningfully to India’s long-term clean energy transition and social development goals.
