ADNEC Group, a Modon Company and an international leader in managing and developing strategic assets, exhibitions, and events, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Positive Zero, the Middle East’s leading decarbonization and energy transition provider, for the installation of a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The agreement was signed during the World Future Energy Summit at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi by Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, and Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain, Chairman of Positive Zero. The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organisations.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri said that the partnership with Positive Zero demonstrates ADNEC Group’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. By incorporating clean energy into its operations, the company aims to set new benchmarks for the industry, align with its sustainability goals, and support the broader vision of the UAE. He added that the agreement reinforces ADNEC Group’s Carbon Transition Plans and contributes to achieving Net Zero targets.
Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain noted that Positive Zero is honoured to partner with ADNEC, one of the most recognised conference centres globally, which hosts prominent events such as the World Future Energy Summit and ADIPEC. He highlighted that Positive Zero supports businesses in decarbonising through clean and efficient energy solutions that transform how energy is generated, managed, and consumed. By assisting ADNEC Group in implementing its Carbon Transition Plans, the partnership also supports the UAE’s national energy transition objectives.
The solar project will be managed by Positive Zero’s generation division, SirajPower, over a 15-year period. It will feature a 5 Mega-Watt Peak (MWp) solar PV system covering an area of 21,620 square metres on the roof of ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Once operational, expected by the end of the year, the system will supply approximately 30 percent of the centre’s annual electricity demand. This initiative is projected to reduce around 6,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1,250 homes in one year.
This development is part of ADNEC Group’s long-term sustainability strategy. The company has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 50 percent by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2045. As part of its Net Zero Transition Plan, ADNEC Group is implementing innovative technologies and best practices to optimise energy efficiency and reduce consumption across all operations. Significant progress has already been made through the introduction of advanced solutions designed to improve operational efficiency while lowering environmental impact.
Through this solar energy initiative, ADNEC Group continues to strengthen its position as a pioneer in sustainable event management. By integrating renewable energy into its infrastructure, the company is reducing the environmental footprint of major exhibitions and events hosted at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, while contributing meaningfully to the UAE’s clean energy transition and national sustainability ambitions.
