MGM Resorts International has achieved a major milestone in its renewable energy strategy, now powering up to 100% of its daytime electricity needs on the Las Vegas Strip with solar energy.
The milestone follows the December 2025 commissioning of the Escape Solar and Storage Project in Lincoln County, Nevada, which delivers 115 MW of solar power and 400 MWh of battery storage. Combined with MGM Resortsโ 100 MW Mega Solar Array, the company has more than doubled its access to renewable energy, while the battery system allows stored solar power to be used during evenings and periods of lower solar production.
โWith this new project coming online, we are accelerating progress toward our goal of using 100% renewable electricity domestically by 2030,โ said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts. โThis demonstrates that our industry can operate more sustainably while delivering long-term cost stability and supporting a more resilient energy future.โ
MGM Resorts had signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Escape Solar LLC in September 2024, extending its renewable energy capacity to cover all daytime electricity needs across its Las Vegas properties.
The company has also invested in other large-scale renewable projects, including:
- 323,000-panel Mega Solar Array providing 100 MW to Las Vegas locations
- 26,000 solar panels atop Mandalay Bay Convention Center delivering 8.3 MW
- 100 kW rooftop solar array for T-Mobile Arena
- 3,456 panels atop MGM Springfieldโs parking garage in Massachusetts
These initiatives support MGM Resortsโ long-term goals of reducing carbon emissions, lowering energy costs, and mitigating exposure to energy price volatility.
