The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) has announced the winners of its latest rooftop solar auction, awarding a total capacity of 233.33 MW to 19 companies. This effort is part of the national PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to expand residential solar adoption and provide free electricity to households. The program specifically targets over 116,000 consumers from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities in the state, with each beneficiary receiving solar systems of up to 2 kW.

The auction results, following a tender issued in December 2025, highlight several major players in the renewable energy sector. Sadbhav Futuretech emerged as the largest winner with 64.50 MW, followed by Ecozen Solutions at 40.2 MW, Ray Power Solutions at 35 MW, Enmas EPC Power Projects with 32.04 MW, and Assure Energy Systems securing 16.14 MW. In addition to these top five, three other companies won capacities above 5 MW, while eleven others were allocated smaller portions ranging from 1.06 MW to 4 MW.

The selected developers are responsible for the complete execution of the projects. This includes conducting site surveys, engineering, and design, as well as supplying, testing, and commissioning the solar systems. Their work also covers all civil, structural, and electrical tasks, including cabling and piping. A key requirement is a mandatory five-year operation and maintenance period to ensure the systems continue functioning efficiently. Developers must also handle all approvals and documentation required for grid connectivity and provide data acquisition systems to monitor the performance of the installations.

To support domestic manufacturing and quality standards, all project components must comply with domestic content requirements. Companies participating in the auction must be registered or empaneled with relevant distribution companies, NREDCAP, or the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy through the official PM Surya Ghar portal.

NREDCAP has set strict performance guidelines to ensure timely delivery and operational reliability. Any delay in commissioning could lead to encashment of performance bank guarantees, while significant downtime during maintenance could result in penalties. This auction follows a successful round in November 2025, when 1.2 GW of rooftop solar capacity was awarded, reflecting Andhra Pradeshโ€™s strong push toward decentralized solar energy. By prioritizing marginalized communities, the state is not only advancing Indiaโ€™s renewable energy goals but also promoting social equity, providing clean and free electricity to households that need it the most.
