UKSOL Ltd, a 100 per cent British-owned solar panel manufacturer, has welcomed the UK Government’s newly published Warm Homes Plan, while cautioning that its success will depend on how delivery mechanisms and procurement frameworks are designed and implemented.

The Warm Homes Plan outlines an ambitious programme aimed at improving household energy efficiency, reducing energy bills and accelerating the deployment of low-carbon technologies, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, across homes and social housing. UKSOL said the initiative presents a significant opportunity to advance decarbonisation and tackle fuel poverty, while also strengthening the UK’s industrial base and energy security.

Commenting on the plan, Andrew Moore, Founder and Chief Executive of UKSOL Ltd, said solar energy has a central role to play in cutting household bills and improving national energy resilience. However, he stressed that public funding should be structured to support ethical supply chains, domestic manufacturing capacity and long-term accountability, rather than prioritising the lowest-cost imports.

UKSOL highlighted that, as a British-owned solar module manufacturer, it operates under UK tax, warranty and liability regimes, offers long-term consumer accountability, and maintains independently audited ethical supply chains. The company noted that these standards are not always matched by overseas suppliers.

The firm also pointed to growing international scrutiny of global solar supply chains, including concerns related to transparency, labour standards and geopolitical risk. In this context, UKSOL argued that procurement under the Warm Homes Plan should reflect these realities and place greater emphasis on responsible sourcing.

UKSOL is a participant in the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), which promotes independently audited environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards in solar manufacturing. The company said it is well positioned to support UK solar installers involved in delivering the Warm Homes programme.

The company said it is ready to engage with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, delivery bodies and trade associations as the Warm Homes Plan moves into its implementation phase, drawing on its experience supplying the UK residential solar market under schemes such as ECO4.

UKSOL also noted that, unlike some European neighbours such as France, the UK has yet to explicitly include solar module manufacturing within its industrial strategy. The company said the Warm Homes Plan presents an opportunity to better align climate ambitions with industrial policy, enabling cost savings for consumers while supporting the development of a resilient domestic clean energy supply chain.
